Kids’ Mega Day
Monday 29th April is the school Staff Development Day (=pupil free day), and we will be holding a one-day program for kids in K-6 at school. There will be games, crafts, activities, bible stories and great food. If you know of kids in primary school who might like to come along, please invites them!

Working Bee
We are having the first of our two working bees on Saturday 4th May. Many hands make light work. It’s our church together – let’s make sure it is well upkept. Even if you can only make a couple of hours, please come along! We will ‘down tools’ for Morning Tea at 10am.

Vision Sermon Series
In term 2, we will be talking about our new St Anne’s Vision statement in a 5 week sermon series. As we begin this series, we will be holding a special Vision Day with all our congregations combining together at 9am in the Historic Church on Sunday 5 May.
St Anne’s Anglican Church Ryde is:
A family brought together by our Lord
         From many different backgrounds
                   Worshipping God as Christian disciples
Loving each other and every neighbour, and
Sharing the good news of Jesus with the City of Ryde and beyond.

Mothers’ Day Stall
Next Sundays, our Stix ‘n String knitters are fundraising for Horizons Legal Centre (which help women in Domestic Violence situations). Scarves, beanies, blankets and other woollen wares will be on sale at stalls straight after the service on Sunday 5 May (the week before Mother’s Day). Bring your cash to get ready for winter and support one of our mission partners.

New Playgroup in Term Two
From Monday 6th May, we will be (re)starting our outreach to families in Ryde with 0-5 year old children. It’s a ministry to mums, dads and caregivers in the Ryde community. Pray for Karen and the team as they make preparations.

10am Retreat
On the first weekend in July, our two 10am services will have a weekend away together down at the Youthworks site in Port Hacking. This will be our first time away since COVID, and it will be a great opportunity to deepen fellowships across our English and Mandarin services. One weekend away is the equivalent of half a year of Sundays in terms of face to face time! If you are a member of one of our 10am services, please mark this date in your diaries and plan to come!

PRAYER POINTS

  • Pray for our April sermon series, to the Ends of the Earth as we hear from some of our Mission Partners teaching the Word and reporting back on what God is doing in their ministries! May the stories of our mission partners inspire us to mission here in Ryde!
  • Keep praying for those in our church family who are recovering from sickness or surgery.
  • Two prayers for ANZAC Day:
Lord God, help us to remember the sacrifice of those caught up in war, and the generations of men, women and children who have died in the cause of liberty and peace. Help us to remember those who still bear the physical and mental scars and disabilities of their service. Help us to remember the widows, girlfriends, widowers, boyfriends, parents, siblings and orphans and all those who waited in vain for the return of a loved one. Help us to remember the mateship, agony, courage and compassion of war service, but save us from ever glorifying the horror and tragedy of war.
Lord God, help us to remember. Amen”

“O, Lord, We thank you for the brave and faithful, who willingly laid down their lives on the battlefields in war or succumbed to the perils of the deep or in the air.
We remember those words of Jesus, ‘Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.’ (John 14.13-14) We thank you that Jesus loved us by laying down his life in his death on the cross, to pay for our wrong before you. We thank you that these men and women loved us by laying down their lives in battle, to ultimately preserve our freedom.
And we thank you for that in Jesus name. Amen.
