Prayer is ‘talking to God’. Yet it is so much more when we consider whowe are speaking to. Prayer is “calling upon the name of the Lord to do what he has promised.”
In the act of praying, we come face-to-face with God; it is “both conversation and encounter.”
How do I pray?
There is one right way to pray; no magic formula. Praying through Scripture helps us pray in line with God’s will. It is in Scripture that we also see many examples of prayer.
Many have found certain prayer structures helpful for honouring God, including: The Lord’s Prayer (Matt 6:9–13), “Adoration, Confession, Thanks, Supplication (ACTS)” and “Thanks, Sorry, Please (Teaspoon)”.

In A Praying Life, author Paul Miller lays out a pattern for living in relationship with God and includes helpful habits and approaches to prayer that enable us to return to a childlike faith.
This series will help you pray better. It will equip you to pray prayers that are based on God’s word. Each spread takes a passage of Scripture and suggests 5 things to pray.
Luther teaches us to concentrate in our prayers and to make them personal and meaningful so that they can also be instruments of learning and meditation, while at the same time we are given the assurance that God will hear us.
Prayer is the act of asking God to do what he has already promised to do, which is modeled throughout the Bible by the patriarchs, the psalmists, the prophets, Jesus, and the apostles.
