Connect for Life

Connect For Life continues the great work of Connect09 as St Anne's extends the love of Jesus to the community of Ryde, inviting people to have a deeper connection with Jesus and his church. We will connect for life by continuing to pray for our community, its local leaders, schools, businesses and residents. First we will connect through Neighbour Day hospitality. In this we wait on God expecting that his great love will penetrate and change our family, our friends, our colleagues and our neighbours.

Neighbour Day
Sunday March 28 'The community you want starts at your front door.'
Neighbour Day is a community-wide event which aims to encourage people across Australia to visit their neighbours or do something with them like have a barbeque or enjoy chatting over cake and coffee. This is also a good opportunity for Christians to build relationships and show God’s love in action. Pray and plan to do something with your neighbours on March 28 or help us as we enjoy afternoon tea at our local unit block. Talk to Scott today.

The Connect Winter Outreach August 2
Phase III (August 16-23): On August 16 we embark on the final phase of the Connect Winter Outreach as we join together again as a church to invite our community to give food to those in need. We will be letterboxing a new area and then on the following Sunday, August 23, we will return to the same area to personally collect the food and say thank you with a copy of The Essential Jesus. Please sign up to say you’ll be involved to either put together flyers/bags, letterbox drop and/or collect.

The Connect Winter Outreach
The Connect Winter Outreach is a fantastic opportunity for us to show our community that we care about those in need. Our first phase (June 28-July 5) reached over 600 dwellings with close to 100 people donating food and receiving the Essential Jesus as a 'thank you'. Now in Phase II (July 12-August 2) we look to focus on the  neighbours in our street/building. Our mission this winter is to promote two urgent needs, one for food and the other for Jesus. Please prayerfully connect with your neighbours.

A Story of Pray...Connect...Expect June 21
Imagine you’re born in the Depression, you’ve lived a hard life and one day at 83 two Christians knock on your door.  Des (a retiree) and I had the pleasure of meeting Fred a few weeks ago when we helped out Riverwood Anglican Church. Des and I prayed throughout as we connected with Fred and we saw God melting this man’s heart ever so slowly before our eyes. In the end he was very eager to read The Essential Jesus and truly think further about Jesus. Please use the June Prayer Guide (see the Connect09 table) and expectantly pray for the upcoming Connect Winter Outreach.

Today We Pray June 7
At the heart of the Connect Winter Outreach is prayer, as we seek to join with God’s great heart and passion for the physically and spiritually hungry. Please set aside 15 minutes TODAY after your church service to join us in prayer.

A Time to Pray May 31
Last Sunday we launched the Connect Winter Outreach during which we want to invite the local community to help us collect non-perishable food for those in need. We also hope that this initiative will help us to make better connections with our local community and learn about their needs and in particular look for opportunities to show and speak of God’s love through Jesus. Will you join us? This fantastic opportunity begins next Sunday, June 7, as we gather to pray. Please set aside 15 minutes after church next week to join us in prayer.
